Personal Wellness:

  • Stay well-hydrated (aim for at least 8 cups of water a day)
  • Maintain a nutritious diet (focus on whole foods and reduce processed or junk food)
  • Ensure plenty of quality rest (7-9 hours per night)
  • Incorporate regular exercise (at least 150 minutes of moderate activity per week)
  • Cut back/or eliminate alcohol consumption, reduce caffeine intake
  • If applicable, deploy efforts to quit smoking, vaping, and any tobacco use

Immediate Relief Tactics:

  • Use cold or warm compress on forehead or neck
  • Sip herbal teas (such as chamomile or peppermint)
  • Mindfulness or meditation

Preventive Measures:

  • Monitor food (identify possible contributing factors) with your diary and avoid foods that may be contributing to the headache. Discuss with your healthcare provider whether an anti-inflammatory diet might help you.
  • Consider magnesium supplements (consult with a healthcare provider)
  • Explore specific vitamin supplements (such as B2 or CoQ10)

Complementary Therapies:

  • Try acupuncture sessions
  • Schedule regular massage therapy sessions
